Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury launching May 4
Treasure-developed XBLA game to arrive with more than 100 stages, editor to make and share levels with friends.
Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury finally has a launch date. D3Publisher of America has confirmed that the Treasure-developed action game is set to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade May 4.
Originally announced last year as a fall 2010 release, Missile Fury is the second title in the series to see a North American release under the D3 banner. Like 2008's DS revival Bangai-O Spirits (the first installment published by D3), Missile Fury mixes arcade shooter action with puzzle-solving gameplay. Also like that title, Missile Fury features more than 100 stages and a level editor tool that lets users create and share with friends.
Bangai-O is known for its near-constant barrage of explosions, but the flow of new games in the series has been sporadic at best. Bangai-O has seen only a handful of installments since its 1999 Japan-exclusive Nintendo 64 debut. That game eventually found its way to North America as a 2001 remake for the Dreamcast. The series then went dormant until the announcement of Bangai-O Spirits.
When it arrives, Missile Fury will sell for 800 Microsoft points ($10). For more on D3Publisher's first go-around with the series, check out GameSpot's review of Bangai-O Spirits.
