Today, Bandai and 7th Level announced they are developing a Tamagotchi CD-ROM, which will be shown at E3. The game takes the features of the virtual pet and enhances them for the PC - including a screen saver and different games to play with your pet.

John McGanty, director of Bandai Digital Entertainment's software unit, says the company expects the CD to enhance the Tamagotchi market and open the game up to new users. "7th Level is starting with the Tamagotchi concept and repurposing it around a set of user characteristics that create a unique PC experience with the CD-ROM."

The Tamagotchi CD-ROM is scheduled for release in September at an MSRP of around US$24.95.
