Avalanche teases three projects by 2014

Just Cause developer plans to announce its first in a trio of new games by July.

Avalanche Studios is projecting a flurry of activity for 2013 and 2014. Today, the Stockholm, Sweden-based Just Cause developer said that it has a trio of big-budget titles in development, the first of which will be announced prior to July.

Why is Avalanche making three games at once? Just cause.

The ramp up in production comes as the result of the studio opening a new development house in New York City last November. At the time of that studio's announcement, the company said former Mindspark Interactive creative director Roland Lesterlin would serve as game director on a project due for release in 2014.

Avalanche's New York office has been a source of pride for the developer since its inception. In January, the company announced that it had secured senior-level talent from a number of high-profile development houses, including Insomniac, Sucker Punch, BioWare, Ubisoft Montreal, Volition, Bethesda, Sony Online, and DreamWorks Animation, to name a few.

The independent development company is best known for its well-regarded open-world action franchise Just Cause, the most recent installment from which launched in March 2010. In September, the company released Renegade Ops, a vehicular dual-stick shooter that received a favorable critical reception.

More information on Avalanche's goings-on can be found through its newly launched website.

Looking for JC3 is all, but I wished they had fixed a few of the missing items and locations in JC2 so you could get 100 percent completion ;)

@witchsight I think its funny how everyone immediately reminisces about Spiderman 2 after playing JC2. My friends and I were the same way.

I found Just Cause 2 easy to dismiss as just another sandbox game. But once i played it, i was floored. The most fun ive had with just getting around since Spiderman 2, and that was a marvel of locomotion... Pardon the pun. :P

Wouldn't it be great to have Just Cause 3 (ahem-with multiple attachments and strong grapple lines-ahem) AND two other different games with open worlds of the same size? *dreams*

Please be Just cause 3. Just cause 2 was great and hopefully the guys at Avalanche can improve on it with more mission variety, increased craziness, multiple tethers and co-op.

just cause 2 was the mercenaries 2 i never had, meaning that i wanted mercenaries 2 to be just like just cause 2, but sadly mercenaries 2 was a HUGE disapointment, and it doesn't make any sense cause mercs 1 was Awesome.

Just Cause 2, for me, was the best sandbox game i've played since San Andreas. I think it truly gave you the most amount of insane gameplay to ever be seen in a game I liked the way i could tackle my missions the way i please. Whether that be going straight in on foot, with a tank, a airplane, skydiving in, & so on. The parachute/grapple hook was genuis. You could have combat on top of & the side of cars, grapple to vehicles, tie moving cars to other objects. The freedom & abilities were amazing. Now if you could make the world a little more alive, tighten up the driving mechanics, add in the ability to hunt animals in the wilderness, & more, you have another hit on your hands We want Just Cause 3!!!

Just cause 3 is on that list I hope the first two were pretty damned good so I see no reason why they shouldn't make it into a trilogy of massive maps :D

Sure, they sound like a promising up and coming dev, but an article about news that won't be news until July? Way too premature.

Yay Avalanche! Give me just cause 3 with building destruction physics and I will be set for life. I love Just Cause simply because it is just a gigantic parody of action b-movies and it pulls it off so well.
