Aussie game charts: June 7-14

Australia's fascination with The Sims 3 continues.

The Sims 3's excellent sales run in Australia has continued, with the game spending its second consecutive week at the top of the overall game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Wii Fit remains in the second place for the week of June 7-14.

The Xbox 360 version of Prototype did a pretty decent job of cracking the third spot during its first week of sales. Sony's own open-world adventure, Infamous, dropped down one spot last week to the fourth, just above Wii Play at number five. The PlayStation 3 version of Prototype also managed to crack the top 10, but fared a little worse than its Xbox 360 cousin, in the sixth place. EA Sports Active continues to lose momentum each week, this time slipping down into number seven. Eighth place goes to Pokemon Platinum for the Nintendo DS, while chart regular Mario Kart Wii narrowly made it into the chart at number nine. Finally, we have Rhythm Heaven on the Nintendo DS, which took out the 10th spot.

@Leo_Colt You haven't even played the game, anyone can see that from your baseless criticisms. It's a shame Infamous can't sit a #1 though, Sony have been doing cinema advertising for it and The Sims 3 hardly needed any to sell guaranteed millions. I think Sony need to really start focusing on getting the PS3 to penetrate the rest of the market - make it a must-have console like the PS2 was. At the moment it's still more of a luxury machine.

The Sims 3 is a terrible sequel. Don't waste your money on it. As far as I am concerned, it IS sloppy, shoddy recycled garbage with The Sims name slapped on it.

im hoping that when the new psp exclusives come out (little big planet, motor storm ect) it may just get them into the top 10. I dont think the psp has had a best selling game since crisis core and even then it was only in there for 1 week. The psp is such a powerful device. It deserves some good games just to show how good it is.

well they did make the game well.. so its good that its being successful, it woulda been easy to just make a shotty game and stick the Sims title on it... so well done
