Atari has today announced that, following the signing of a publishing deal with Microsoft, it will release a PC version of Top Spin later this year. The online tennis game, which was developed by Power and Magic Development (PAM), was originally published by Microsoft for the Xbox last year.

Based on today's announcement, it appears the PC version of Top Spin will be identical to the Xbox original, allowing players to create and train their own tennis star and then compete online against other players or against 16 professionals, including Anna Kournikova and Lleyton Hewitt. The PC version of Top Spin will also boast Xbox Live-style online rankings.

"We are delighted to add this outstanding title to our global product portfolio," said Christian Gloe, president of publishing at Atari. "PAM is one of the hottest studios in the development community, and their attention to detail will make Top Spin an exceptional product on PC as well as Xbox."

We'll bring you more information on the PC version of Top Spin as soon as it becomes available.
