Apple's Next iPhone Is Likely Being Announced on September 9
Time to upgrade.
Apple has sent out invites for an event on September 9 where it's expected to announce the next iteration of the iPhone.
Assuming the company follows its usual pattern, we should be seeing the reveal of the iPhone 6S, perhaps alongside a new edition of the iPhone 6 Plus. According to CNET, a new Apple TV may also be announced after the device didn't show up during an Apple event in June. Furthermore, new iPads could be on display, according to a report from Buzzfeed.
The September event comes exactly one year after last year's event, when Apple revealed both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Those devices have both gone on to be tremendously successful for the company; even in the face of falling iPad sales, Apple reported a huge profit in July 2015. That was thanks in large part to iPhone sales, which were up 60 percent year-over-year for the quarter, with 47.5 million sold.
