Activision's Deadpool Returns to Steam, But Not Xbox 360 or PS3
Call of Duty publisher's licensed game available again on PC following its de-listing more than a year ago.
Activision's Deadpool, an action game based on the Marvel character, has returned to Steam following its de-listing from all digital storefronts. You can buy the game today on the popular digital PC marketplace for $40.
Deadpool's return to Steam came with no official announcement or promotion from Activision. This, however, is not unprecedented, as Activision also launched a Prototype remastered bundle this week with very little fanfare.
We have followed up with Activision to find out if the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Deadpool are also set to return.
Deadpool was originally removed from digital stores at the end of 2013 alongside other Marvel games, including X-Men: The Official Game, X-Men: Destiny, X-Men: Origins - Wolverine, and the Spider-Man titles Edge of Time, Shattered Dimensions, Friend or Foe, and Web of Shadows. Those games remain unavailable.
Activision's Marvel games were pulled as a result of an expired licensing agreement between the two companies.
Why Deadpool has returned but not the others is unknown. However, the move comes after San Diego Comic-Con last week, where the 2016 Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds generated a lot of buzz.
Activision's Deadpool was developed by High Moon Studios. The developer is now working alongside Bungie on Destiny content.
