A Peek at Sony's Plans for '98

Twisted Metal 3? Crash Bandicoot 3? Read when they're due out.

Over the weekend, Sony PlayStation titles appeared on lists for national retailers indicating their respective release dates. They include:

7/2/98Spyro the DragonA character-based game told to be developed by Insomniac, the folks behind Universal Interactive's first-person shooter Disruptor.

10/2/98Cool Boarders 3The latest in Sony's popular snow boarding game line.

Crash Bandicoot 3The third in Naughty Dog's 3D platform game series.

LegionA 3D shooter seen in early form at last year's E3 convention.

MedievalA 3D take on Capcom's Ghost N Goblins seen in early form at last year's E3.

NCAA Game Breaker '99This year's college football game from Sony.

NHL FaceOff '99This year's hockey title from Sony.

Rally Cross 2The sequel to last year's off-road racer.

11/3/98Twisted Metal 3The third in the series of popular driving/shooting games from Sony. This one will not be developed by SingleTrac, but by Sony itself.

A handful of other PlayStation titles mentioned on the list, which we've yet to hear publishers for, include Predator Racing (7/01/98), Devil Dice (9/11/98), WarHawks (10/2/98), Redneck Rampage 2 (10/16/98), Diabolical Adventure Tobu (11/03/98), Syphon Filter (11/03/98), and Dark Guns (12/2/99).

Also, Taito's 3D PlayStation update to its Darius shooter series, G Darius, appeared on the list for an August 26 release. The game's US publisher is currently a mystery, although Working Designs' Spaz label seems the most probable party.
