$1.99 is the cost of turning a Call of Duty: Ghosts guard dog into a wolf
Getting 5 kills in a row will never be the same again.
Starting today, Call of Duty: Ghosts owners on Xbox One and Xbox 360 can pay $1.99 to replace the game's guard dog pointstreak reward with a wolf.
The cosmetic DLC (which will surely remind some people of the now-infamous horse armour DLC for Oblivion) will be available for other platforms at a later date, says Activision community manager Dan Amrich.
Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners of Call of Duty: Ghosts will also be able to get into the holiday spirit with a free festive camo pack, also released today. The game's alien-thwacking Extinction co-op mode will also be dishing out double XP this weekend.
The Guard Dog is a streak rewarded to players who get 5 kills without dying while using the assault strike package in Call of Duty: Ghosts. When active, the dog will run around near the player and likely prove to be a one-hit kill nuisance for the enemy team. It's probably not worth paying the $2 if you're only using the support or specialist strike packages.
US retailer GameStop is currently selling codes for the DLC for $3. "Transform your guard dog into a menacing wolf," reads GameStop's description.
