40th Day is certainly better than the first game but without level Variety and a poor story, there isn't any substance

Salem and Rios are back in this fun sequel to the original Army of Two. It's more of the same, but with a few tweaks that make the game overall a little better to play, but it's criminally short and less interesting than the first game.

This time round, our favourite guns for hire are caught up in the middle of a terrorist attack on Shanghai, making their mission one of survival as much as anything. This gives the game a consistent feel in terms of setting, but the plot is woefully under-developed, and for much of the game you are left wondering what the hell is going on. It's also pretty brief, you can fly through the game in just a few hours, especially if playing co-op with a friend.

Despite the length and the plot flaws, it's still a good blast. Online co-op is implemented well and the game is best when played with a human team-mate. Having said that, the AI of your partner in the single-player game is very good, with competent path-finding and accurate shooting, he's a big help.

Generally the graphics and presentation are very nice to look at, and are complemented well by the sound and music. Bizarrely, there doesn't appear to be any options to change volume levels, which is a real shame as the voice acting is quiet and there are no subtitles either. You can miss out on some of the better jokes as Salem and Rios frequently display their own special brand of humour.

Aside from co-op, there is online multiplayer, in which you partner up with another player for various objective-based games on relatively compact maps. It works fine but pales in comparison to the co-op campaign, so probably won't sustain interest for long.

This is a good, solid game. The campaign is fine, although it highlights that the plot in the first game was actually brilliant in comparison, and it's also very short. Co-op is very well done. There is fun to be had in Army of Two: The 40th Day, but it doesn't last long so whilst worth a go, it's not a game you will likely play for all that long. You can't help feeling it should have all been so much bigger, when in actual fact it is just a little too slight.

The Good:

- Graphically is looks decent.
- Decent amount of Customization.
- Slightly longer Campaign.

The Bad:

- Story is pointless.
- Action doesn't really change.
- Moral Choices also seem pointless
- Mutliplayer won't stay active for long.
