User Rating: 1.8 | Andre Agassi Tennis SNES
Andre Agassi Tennis... one would think that Agassi would have a good tennis game to his name. But this SNES game does not come close to being a good game. In fact, this game is bad enough to call it a total waste and unplayable. While the game mechanics pass... it is so boring and is not entertaining. One might argue that the real game of tennis a long drawn out sport. However, there are better tennis computer games out there. This has no excuse for being so bad. Gameplay: 1/10 The control seem to be pretty straighforward. Controlling the location and power of your hits are okay... if you manage to hit the ball at all. The big problem with the gameplay is that it is choppy. You can't control your player fluidly to get where you want to be on the court. As a result you either can't get to the ball, or the ball ends up hitting you while you swing for it. This happens way too many times to the point of major annoyance. Games with difficult dynamics sometimes make up for it in other game management areas. But this game does not. The computer AI is horrible and misses easy shots... just as you miss your share. There are no stats, replays... this game has no frills and no special things about it. You can play in practice mode. But even that is not very helpful. Graphics: 2/10 The animation is choppy as I have mentioned already. And aside from the actual tennis game, there is very little animation. The courts are the same, except for colors to match hard, clay, and grass court surfaces. There is very little player detail... character shots are poorly drawn. And to top it all of, the ball is not green. Sound: 3/10 The sounds are not too bad, although any attempt at music is a little bothersome. Tennis, being a fairly quiet sport, doesn't need a lot of music. The sound effects for hitting the ball are realistic enough. But the overall sound quality is poor. Reviewer's Tilt: 2/10 Do yourself a favor and don't get it like I did. This game is bad. No... worse. It is horrible.
