It's impossible to understand the importance of this game unless you've played it 15 years ago. Now you can get an emulator, go to youtube and see videos or whatever but it's hard to see it in context. Compared with now days games is so basic that you won't understand why this is one of most important games ever made.

SO let's go back to 1992, i was just a child when games were mainly "video-games", i mean, plain graphics about platforms, killing, driving, whatever... 2 or 3 buttons was enough to handle it, i mean, you know you was just playing "things" for fun, but it wasn't too much real, just a GAME.

But when you install on your home PC this game and play it first time, believe me, that was a shocking experience. You'll never expect something like Alone in the Dark on your screen. There was a man (or women) walking in 3D, with incredible movements that make it real, and you'll never has seen before that. The steps sounds depending the floor, the house was a scaring environment, wait, the first environment that seems real on a game.

The game revolution comes with that fact: you were there, moving in a house and you feel it. You get shock sometimes, get nervous, you really wanted your 3D guy run away or shoot that thing!!!

The game system was not revolutionary, like in other games you've got puzzles and others BUT for the first time it was interactive with the scenario, you can move items, throw them, you can hide or you can destroy by MAKING IT, not pushing the action "do that". All this factors and many more makes this game the first you can easily forget you were just playing; the sensation of living it was immerse, a real sensation, the real deal.

All this just in 4 floppy disk. Amazing. I mean, in 1992 it was easy to make a game based on the genre archetypes, a shooter, an adventure, a platform game... ALONE IN THE DARK was the first concept different from them, because really you was ALONE in that dark house.

So if you know enjoy playing 3D games, horror games and many others, thanks it to Alone in the Dark.

This game really deserves a monument.
