Aliens vs. Predator will probably only be enjoyed to its full extent if you are a hardcore AvP fan in search of action.

With multiplayer being dead on this title, this review is solely based on the Single Player of Aliens vs Predator.

I don't even know where to begin with this game. Everyone who has played it has to admit there is flaws with a lot of things, the first being the controls. I don't mean the button layout because that's fine, but when you're playing as an Alien it can be frustrating. Even when you don't want to climb a wall or ceiling you do. Additionally, when you're stuck where you don't want to be and under fire it gets annoying.

Playing as an alien is very exciting at first and stays that way until you finish the first level as one. After that the sloppy movement gets to your head. I was ready to quit and move onto the next campaign when not even halfway finished with the Alien campaign, but I pressed on.
The campaign is very repetitious having you do the same things seemingly over and over: climbing through vents, taking out marines and civilians and destroying power sources, it gets old very quickly. However, the gameplay is different enough from other games to remain entertaining enough to finish at least once.

The Marine campaign started out fresh and different, and it was the first campaign I played. Right away I was disappointed you did not have the option of looking down the sights of your gun, and this made it difficult to shoot at times (especially with the pistol in the beginning). The campaign was short and not so fun, after a while you realize your just doing the same ONE thing on different maps-- killing aliens. There is nothing really included into any of the campaigns to really engage you in any sort of story either. So it took a while to actually sit down and beat the campaigns simply because single player got boring after about an hour of play. In the end it seemed like I was playing more for trophies than to actually enjoy the game itself.

However, there still is another campaign. The Predator campaign is the strongest for the most amount of play time, simply for the brutality that eventually gets old too. The brutal kills are fun at first but then eventually you find yourself sitting back saying, "Hah… I ripped his spine out… *yawn*" The Predator campaign does at the very least play very differently than the other two campaigns and it is arguably the most original aspect of the game.

Overall, if you do not like AvP and you're not a fan you will likely immediately label this game as abysmal, but if you really do like the movies or books then you will get a few good enjoyable hours out of the game, but not much else.
