Alien Trilogy may be a very old game, but anybody looking to relive the good old days of gaming should check this out.

User Rating: 7.7 | Alien Trilogy (Platinum) PS
The Good: classic first person shooter gameplay similar to the original doom; it holds true to the style of the movies; lots of aliens to kill; decent weapon selection; sizable campaign;

The Bad: the controls do not support joysticks, so using the d-pad can take time to get used to; very dated graphics make your surroundings difficult to see some times;

The Alien movies are considered to be some of the best sci-fi movies ever made, well at least the first two are. It is very natural to have a video game based off of a movie where all they do is shoot monsters. Thus, Alien Trilogy was made for the Playstation to satisfy your hunger to kill these nasty aliens.

The gameplay sticks very close to the blue print of the original Doom. Walk around, open doors, and shoot anything that moves. Since this is an old game there is no ability to look and down with out holding down a button, it is just point and shoot at what is right in front of you. This all works very well with the exception of only using the d-pad to control your character instead of the joysticks we are all so familiar with. There is a good sized campaign and and a lot of aliens to kill. It has everything you would want from a Doom Clone.

The visuals now in 2006 look very dated. They get the job done except in a few areas where the lighting gets too dark to see. But that is okay, what do you expect from a 9 year old game? The weapon models are well done along with the aliens and other enemies you will face.

The audio is very basic, featuring decent gun effects, explosions, ect. There is a intro movie that features a brief bit of voice acting but beyond that there is none to speak of (no pun intended).

This is a rare game these days. I was lucky enough to find it on eBay where they had a mint copy with original case, disc and booklet for $7.08 including shipping. It was a great deal. If you own a PSone or a PS2 and have an interest at looking at a classic game, you would do yourself a favor to hunt this game down and pick it up.
