Following up a trend of "Free to Play" and so bring shame upon the Age of Empire's title franchise...
But the day that i heard it was free to play the smile on my face went down.
Cause mostly bad things happen to games that are free to play.
and are actually not really Free at all.
Age of empires online.
Yes free to play and endless fun and community interaction and Bla Bla Bla, sounded all pretty right. ( and heard many, many times before ) First i had to play to see and experience if they finally did change my view and experience about free to play games and hoped not to bring "shame" to the age of empires series..
Right after launch you get smacked with pay now for whole Egyptian/Greek Civilization experience.
That bothered me ALLOT.
So its not so free to play after all. ( Its like the Microsoft Press Conference we shall not bring celebrities on stage ).....
But right back to the game it runs smoothly but it feel's all a bit not in place you have your capitol city which serve's as a Quest giving function & Unit/building Item shop. its fun to play along build a fun looking city.. it only feels like a Cheap flash game that you can play on Facebook...( need to buy for a great and nice looking city and wait for resources!?! )
The game-play on quest's give more of a age of empires feeling so there is still a little empires in it. ( only a little )
You get huge advantages with unit equipment which is when bought a premium package is best available for each civilization...
All of this together kills the fun for me in total. it is fun to play at quest to get the empires feeling. but everything around it kills your buzz to play... its just all about money again..
My Advise Go and Play Age of Empires 2!
