I'm glad I didn't buy it and a friend gifted it to me. What a waste of money.

This is going to be a short review because there's next to nothing to write. Anyone who's been into RTS for long enough knows about AoE. AoE II was arguably the best of the series and I enjoyed it a lot more than I did AoE I, but not enough to shell out $20 for it again ~13 years after it originally released.

I don't understand the idea behind this. My friend was excited about it and bought me a copy so we could play together, but what a waste! How can you make a game this obsolete into (HD)!?!? That's buying Ben-Hur or It's a Wonderful Life on Blu-Ray. The graphics engine for the game is so antiquated that it doesn't even matter what resolution you're playing at. Animations are still 10+ years obsolete and pixelated, and by today's standard's the game looks like an Indie FTP piece of garbage.

Aside from that, the game hasn't really changed, so if you're really feeling nostalgic and want to play this, you can probably kijiji a disc for $3 and run the game with some compatibility tweaks. Don't waste $20 on it. Just don't. Please. Publishers and developers need to know that this sort of crap doesn't fly.
