Being that I never played the first one, this game was something of a mystery to me. However, once I figured out the game mechanics (which doesn't take that long), you are just about hooked on this game. Between the different battle formats and the various countries that you use, this game will not get boring. Each battle that you partake in does not feel like the one before it nor the one that is coming up afterwards. In fact, you don't even end up having the exact same battle if you fight at the same location over and over again. The upgrade bonuses are great for the various tactics that you plan to employ against your opponent. Furthermore, the difficulty in the game moves up along your training curve as well as where you are within the campaign itself. I even like how nonviolent the face-offs are when you interact with the enemy. The cartoony nature of the fighting gives this game an added enjoyment.
If you know Advance Wars, this game is an excellent follow-up. If you are new to the name, then this game will take you by surprise ... and you will enjoy it from start to finish.
