One of the most touching games that I've laid my eyes on!

User Rating: 9 | A Boy and His Blob WII
A Boy and His Blob is a puzzle platformer game for the Wii. It is reincarnation of the NES game of the same name. Now, I haven't played the original, but I have heard of people complaining about it's random deaths. Fortunately, I haven't seen these kinds of problems with the new game, and I'm sure the developers were well aware of this too. The boy is given a more youthful appearance and personality in the new version, a creative decision that I deeply admire, as it is the most downright adorable experience I've ever had while playing a video game. Although it doesn't do much gameplay wise, hugging the blob is sure to get your tear ducts going. The main game focuses on feeding your blob companion jellybeans which transform him in various objects. You use these to get around obstacles and enemies until you finally find the golden jellybean, which completes the level. There are 40 main levels and 40 bonus levels, giving you a total of 80 levels. There are also boss battles at the end of each of the four worlds. Many of the enemies were summoned by an evil king which has taken over the blob's homeworld. They all appear to be black gooish objects. Chests can also be found. By finding chests in the main worlds, you unlock bonus levels. By completing bonus levels, you unlock various goodies such as artwork form the game's development. The game starts relatively easy, but gets increasingly hard as you get towards the beginning of the 3rd world. Many of the puzzles in the later levels will require you to use certain beans in a certain sequence. Some people might think the game is somewhat underwhelming by watching it, but if you actually play it, you will find out that they couldn't be anymore wrong. It's a strong 3rd party effort from a WESTERN developer. I really want to see more titles like this. I want to play more games from my Wii that are not Japanese. Get this, you won't be disappointed!
