Gamers hoping to take out zombies with shotguns, two-by-fours, golf clubs, and whatever else they can dig up in a shopping mall, may have to wait a bit longer than expected. Capcom's Dead Rising is now scheduled for release sometime this summer, according to the company's Web site. The game was originally speculated to hit stores in May.

A representative from Capcom told GameSpot that the previous May release date was merely an approximation and not an official release date. Furthermore, there hasn't been an exact shipping date finalized for the game.

In Dead Rising, gamers take refuge inside a shopping mall populated by flesh-eating zombies. There are several weapons at players' disposal, including planks of wood from the remnants of mall carts and guns plucked fresh off the rack of the sporting goods store.

Dead Rising has not yet been rated and will retail for $59.99. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
