A fun shooter.

1942 is your fairly typical vertical scrolling shooter. It came out for several old school systems, I played it for the Commodore 64. 1942 takes place in... well, 1942. If that doesn't clue you in, this is a World War II related airplane combat game. There are several levels you have to fight through, including Midway, Marshall, Attu, Rabaul, Leyte, Saipan, Iwo Jima, and finally Okinawa before reaching the ultimate goal, Tokyo. But keep in mind this is the Commodore 64, so it's not like you can actually distinguish between these places. After each level, you finish by landing on your aircraft carrier. All in all though, the graphics in this game stand up fairly well. And the gameplay is simple, yet effective. This game came out later for systems like the NES and Gameboy color, so if this is a game that you really want to play, you're much more likely to find it on one of those systems, or maybe emulated.
