The World is Not Enough is a great shooter, but fails to capture the light that made Goldeneye shine.

Since EA Games took over the Bond license they have been trying to make a Bond game that matches the classic Goldeneye. With Tomorrow Never Dies being their first and failed attempt, EA has cooked up another game that is inspired by the recent Bond flick, The World is Not Enough. Using similar characters and locales from the movie, you will take part in over 12 action-packed missions each with a wide variety of weaponry ranging from pistols, to sub-machine guns, to sniper rifles. Like Goldeneye, Bond will use a wide variety of neat little gadgets and gizmos to complete his objectives like telephone wire taps, and pen grenades. Just about every weapon has a secondary mode to use. For example, Bond’s basic pistol has a secondary mode which allows him to equip a silencer to it. Each weapon comes with its own reload animation for more realism. Although the game features many missions, you can easily go through the entire game in less than a day, which hurts the game in which it lowers replay value. The game features a multiplayer that is somewhat better than Goldeneye, you can decide to throw in AI bots and/or human players. Game modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and several others. The sound is great; soundtracks in missions feel like they are straight out of a Bond movie, voiceovers sound like the real actors from the movie, and gunfire sounds very satisfying. The graphics are OK, characters look slightly larger than they should, the textures get a little blurry in multiplayer, and the absence of blood makes you wonder if you have killed your target or not. The World is Not Enough is a great game that should be played by any Bond fan or shooter fan for that matter. This is the closest thing that EA has come to recreating Goldeneye, and even though it is no Goldeneye, EA has brought some nice new things to the table.
