Part 2 of the .Hack series is more of the same hack & slash action.

User Rating: 8.2 | .hack//Mutation Part 2 PS2
I have completed part 2 of this 4 part game and I have to say that it is still as good as the first part. Once again you control Kite as he tries to solve the problems going on in The World and to find a way to help his real life friend recover from a coma.

The story continues from Part 1 as you find more clues as to whats going on and how to fix the problems. But as it turns out the clues seem more and more confusing as time goes on. Each time you attempt to stop something bad from happening, somthing worse happens in The World.

The graphics in this game arent the greatest and the dungeons & fields start to look the same after a while. Even the cut-sceens are more cartoonish than real. but it doesnt take away from the gameplay. As you travel the field or dungeons you open portals that release different enemies depending on what the field level is. The fighting is in real time and has you either attacking or backing off to use magic skills depending on the Element of the enemy.

In Part 2 a new Root Town is avaliable and more items and weapons can be bought or traded depending on what you have in your inventory. This in my opinion is the best part of the game, interacting with NPC's and trading for higher quality armor and weapons. You get so much moe then buying in the shop. Also you can Data Drain your enemies for more types of items and weapons to improve your characters.

Although some parts require certain characters, you can prety much choose anyone you want to go on an advenutre with to level up or just get better items. This is also what makes playing this game alot of fun as you have an almost endless amount of different places to go and fight and find items. Each character has their own specialties that can help you while playing the game. Plus you can give them better equipment in order to improve their stats.

If you enjoyed .Hack part 1 like I did, then you will also enjoy Part 2 as it is mostly the same game, just a continuation of the story.
