Returnal developer posts cryptic teaser!

A mysterious tease from Returnal developer Housemarque Studios has promised an imminent announcement from the studio behind the hugely-popular PlayStation and PC roguelike.

Housemarque posted a black-and-white teaser image to social media platform X this morning. It shows a pair of eyes peering through what looks like fractured glass, captioned with a single word: "Tomorrow".

Are those the eyes of Returnal's Selene Vassos? I think it's meant to be ambiguous - and indeed, the initial replies to Housemarque's post are from dozens of Returnal fans hoping for news of an expansion or sequel.

But Housemarque has in the past already confirmed it is working on an all-new idea - and suggested that this will launch first, before any return to Selene's story.

That said, Returnal senior narrative designer Eevi Korhonen has said that some leftover ideas for the game could make their way into Returnal's new project - suggesting the two may not be too dissimilar

Better yet a sequel. Loved playing Returnal.

Again, so many people were saying "I'm not playing this game, I don't want to play as an old grandma" so many people obsessing over how a character looks these days.

Meanwhile I'm playing the Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of time not giving a flying f what I play as.

Whatever Housemarque does, they need to do console/PC both day one, not a year apart.

I love the rogue-like genre, but I want to see them tackle something different, maybe something cyberpunk.

From the eyes, it looks like a Returnal expansion.

looks like dlc or sequel, would they have waited this long to do a dlc? hope it's a sequel, or better yet a different game but by the look of the graphic it's selene

Man i would love a sequel. Returnal is one of my favorite game this gen.

Returnal looked like a very cool game so I’m interested in seeing what this might be.

I need tips for returnal, because I sucked hard at it.

Never played rogue games or whatever.

Dodging is a Godsend in Returnal, so use that to your advantage and you can bypass most projectiles as well.

The best weapon recommendation I can give is to use:

• Electropylon as it does the work for you while you are hiding and its a great trap weapon.
• Dreadbound is technically broken and by that, I mean its the boomerang-like that hits and returns to the gun itself. The damage per shot is absurdly high to make up for the fact that if you miss you're going to be defenseless for a second, so keep that in mind.
• Hollowseeker is the assault rifle with a huge magazine of ammo to boot. Everyone says this was the best weapon, well, it isn't, but it's pretty good, especially once you start unlocking the portal mods. This is very much a hip-fire weapon, with some light homing capability and pretty much easy to use.

Is there anything else you wanted to know? I play Returnal every now and than as I like the game more so than others here in sw.

Plus dodging into enemy fires is a real strategy, as when you're dodging you take no damage from anything.

Selene sucks. Badly written character with line after line of cringe.

@Chutebox: when you progress to new areas, if you die and reset, don't rush directly into new areas after you've unlocked them, clear out previous levels for upgrades and such so you're ready for what's ahead, that simply, I got through the main sequence with only a small number of deaths that way

They were acquired by Sony to stop developing 9/10 games. Very good.

If this was an attempt for an April's fool's joke, I'd be ok with this. This isn't April's fool's and we've past that. Clearly they know their fans want news what's coming next but this isn't one of them. Look, I understand game development now takes way longer but at least provide details what's coming next on games and that would be enough. Oh well🤷🏼‍♂️
