Even though it has every MK character from every MK game, the gameplay is average at best.

I was a big fan of Mortal Kombat 1,2,3,Ultimate MK3,and I liked MK4 too.But IMO,MK Deadly Alliance,Deception and Armageddon are not good 3D fighting games.

MK Armageddon's gameplay is very similar to the gameplay in MK Deception(which was the MK game released before MK Armageddon).A big problem with MK Armageddon is,on the easier difficulty levels, the CPU opponents are too easy, and on the harder difficulty levels, the CPU opponents are too hard and cheap. The game's difficulty level is not well balanced.

MK4 did a good job of using the MK gameplay elements in a 3D fighting game, but after MK4,it feels like the MK games are trying to be more technical like the Tekken or Virtua Fighter series, which is a good idea in theory, but because MK Armageddon has unbalanced difficulty levels, the gameplay is not very fun.

The game has many combo attacks and great special moves, but on the easier difficulty levels you won't need to use combos and you can just spam special moves repeatedly and on the harder difficulty levels, you won't get much of a chance to use the combos, because the CPU will detect and counter most of what you do.

The main appeal about the game is it has every character and boss that's appeared in any MK game. There is good diversity in character fighting styles/abilities too, but, all this potential went to waste.

However,at least you can get some closure on the fate of some of the characters such as Shao Kahn and Kintaro(who appeared in the older MK games).

Scorpion still has his harpoon attack and yells ''come over here'' which will please MK fans. But,Sub Zero's ice projectile is so slow and is easy to dodge.

MK Arm. allows you to create your own fatalities and do multiple acts of barbarism on a defeated opponent, which is a nice, new feature to the series. You can create your own character and select moves for them(copy moves from other characters).

The fighting environments are a bit bland.I remember how Mortal Kombat 1,2,Ultimate MK3 have such great environments to battle on,such as the oriental style throne rooms and fighting arenas with Buddha statues and people applauding in the backgrounds. The Pit stage in Mortal Kombat Pit is memorable because of all the dead bodies impaled on the spikes below.MK2 has the living forest with all the trees growling at you and on Ultimate MK3,there is desert enviornment with characters stuck in quicksand. But in MK Armageddon, you'll fight in places such as a factory or some dull looking or in the middle of the road.

The extra games included such as the racing game and puzzle game are mediocre.

The game is definately quantity over quality. If you really want to play the best MK games, play MK1,2,Ultimate MK3 and if you want a good 3D fighting game, look elsewhere.
