Does not deserve all the hate it's been getting

User Rating: 8.5 | Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Duel Transer WII
Here we go. The second Wii release for a Yu-Gi-Oh! game. Unlike Wheelie Breakers, this game does focus on dueling, cards going up to Starstrike Blast. And it is a glorious experience. I won't deny, this game does have its flaws, but the sheer number of cards and duelists you fight in this game MORE than make up for it. The story pits you along with the rest of the 5D's cast to the island of Ragnarok, invited by Surtr to fight in the Duel of Legends Cup. However, things slowly start to go wrong, especially when the enigmatic Odin comes in. Story is a bit eh, but going through Niflheimr unlocks journals where you can get some more information on the background, and it is actually pretty interesting...if not really creepy. Again, story isn't anything amazing, but it is still feels like a real story, unlike some of the World Championship games and does give you a sense of accomplishment. Movement could have been 3D, but it still works well. Dueling can be frustrating since the AI ranges from piss easy to mind numbingly hard, but overall, its just plain old dueling.
I can't explain why I like this game. It just seems like a good game to me. Could it have been better? Of course it could have. Is the end result still fun? You bet it is. Really, you need to look past the things that annoy you and just enjoy the things you like.
