Pretty, but lacking so much from the original. This one is like a prettified chess game.

It is pretty, even though it uses the Unreal Engine, and it's a whopping 13GB in size! After first install it already require you to download a 2GB update to fix a few graphic glitches.

Overall, if you have not played the original UFO Enemy Unknown or XCOM Terror from the deep, you will find this game fun and frustratingly difficult at times.

What is missing to make this title true to the marketing hype are:
- Soldier backpacks so soldiers can carry more or even pick stuff up from the battlefield. Sometimes someone just need to throw you the medic kit instead of running over the aliens line of sight.

- Time Units was the tactics core of the classic. Now the player is restricted to 2 moves or 1 action mostly.

- Skills and Classes are simplified taking the nitty gritty career progression we use to spend hours on, out.

- No randomly generated terrains or missions. Oh come on! The classics was only 17MB and they did that.

- The "Ant Nest"...the scope would have been much better if they just kept to the top-down view of the base. The current base is just fancy graphics with a little bit of placement tactics - If you know about the rules.

- Line of sight was actually line of sight in the classics. Turn, and then you see the alien. Now it's so overly simplified.

This 'remake' should NOT have had the same name of the original. There are games in the making more closer to the franchise. In general, if you are of the newer generation who has a larger collection of FPS games and play time then this is for you. Very basic stuff based on chance. If you loved the classic, play this with a different mindset - to have a easy chess session.
