The 'squad' AI and boring missions, makes this game a complete mess.

Set in the future in 22nd Century LA, a scientist gets kidnapped along with some secret project data and the X Squad gets sent to investigate and rescue the kidnapped scientist and get back the project data.

You'll be sitting thou really boring cutscenes where you have no idea where the characters or plot are going. The characters do have good shiny models and voice acting. The down side is that they placed in a poor game with little or no brains as they run into bullets and enemy fire.

Almost all the levels are boring, there cubes everywhere, you run into one room which is a cube then run out into another cubed room. The added bonus of pushing levers to access and continue in the game. Those characters and people living in LA deserve better then a cubist room to represent them. An awesome LA Skyline would of been awesome.

Before every level, you can buy and stock up on weapons, items and ammo, it's really nice because you can access yourself with loads of weapons and you'll be shooting loads of bad guys in the level. However there a few flaws behind this, sometimes you'll find yourself getting killed by a sniper or rocket blown at you, wondering where it was coming from.

Every level has a boss battle, they're the most generic bosses you'll ever face, even on the easiest level, they can be extremely painful during later levels and sometimes you'll be using 1,000 bullets to take them and complete the level.

The best thing about the game is the sound department, the music deserves to be release as a OST, but not under the 'X Squad' name, it's that good and desevres some credit for it.

Controls could of been tweaked a little however you'll be having so much shooting, sometimes you'll have complete control over it as it takes advantage of the PS2 controller.

This is one game that I strongly don't recommend to people, even as a launch title for the PS2, it still bad. Not to say there things in the game worth noting, however the way it's all put together is a entire mess and the game could of used a few move tweaks, better level design and challenge. It makes you thinking that your actually playing a shooter instead of a team based combat type of game.
