If you like Gauntlet, this is worth picking up from the bargain bin.

User Rating: 5.5 | X-Men: Destiny PS3
There are plenty of reviewers out there that use words like "horrible" and "shame" when referring to X-Men: Destiny. I will agree with those reviewers in the sense that this is a disappointingly flawed game and really doesn't do the X-Men franchise justice, but at the same time I do believe there are some bright points that keep this game from being an absolute waste of time and money.

To me, the best parts of this game are the playable characters and the overall voice acting (the casting of the voice actors may be the strongest feature of all). The characters have enough personality that while you may not overly care about them you're at least entertained by their development and their personality quirks (Grant's attempt at football-inspired small talk with Juggernaut had me laughing and Adrian's inner conflict is an interesting touch). The various costumes you can collect are also interesting takes on those worn by their namesakes in the game (for the most part anyway -- the Quicksilver one, blech).

Yes, the fighting through hordes of bad guy trooper clones can get tedious at times. It really does remind me of playing Gauntlet with its never-ending hordes of identical-looking bad guys. Even with the tedium however there is a certain satisfaction to be had in mowing down 100 or so hostiles in a single brawl... and sometimes it just feels good to mindlessly blow off steam for a while.

All in all, I'd say it's worth picking up a used copy at your local game store for the occasions where you don't really want to have to think too hard about what you're doing and just trash bozos for a while. But don't pay anywhere near full price for it.
