Another game from the franchise. Another game with plenty of flaws as always.

User Rating: 7.5 | WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 PS3
The SmackDown franchise has been going strong since the PlayStation 1 days. From there it moved to the PlayStation 2 and produced some games that got some raved reviews such as Here Comes The Pain, Shut Your Mouth and the 2006 edition of SmackDown vs Raw. However the series started to be milked right when it moved to the 360 and other leading consoles after 2007 was released. The 2011 edition is no different.

If you've played SmackDown 2007 and beyond, playing 2011 would be a breeze for you. The only difference is the implementation (finally) of groggy grapples when you have stunned an opponent and standard grapples have been limited heavily because of it (even though more could have been added to avoid repetitiveness). The moveset has been expanded even further such as extra attacks in the corner and etc. A new system added to the series is 'one button pinning.' A lot of moves in the game would always end in a pin, so to avoid that all pinning moves (except aerial) have been given the one button pin treatment.

However, like every SmackDown game after 2007, there is always the annoying flaws that plagued a once likable series. The occasional glitch, strange hit detection, long loading (especially for the PS2 and Wii editions) and among other things. Not a lot of stuff on this game feels except the implementation of corner finishers now in Create-A-Finisher, extra scenes added to Story Designer (though not much) and a more expanded Match Creator to have matches end in the way that you would want them to be (I.E: submission matches ending in 2 out of 3 falls, end a table match by putting someone through a flaming table, eliminate escaping from a steel cage altogether, etc).

SmackDown vs Raw 2011 still provides some entertainment underneath it all, but it's time that this mighty old series get the much needed revamp that it requires to keep things fresh and not another 'rinse, lather' repeat cycle that Yukes has been doing for quite some time.
