Other than a few new creation tools, not much has changed in SmackDown's recent entry. Still a fun title

Face facts people: the SmackDown series is in dire need of a major overhaul. While we will not get it in this game, SmackDown vs Raw 2010 is still a good game.

Control scheme wise, it remains the same way as it always has been since 2008 with one minor change: no longer do you need the L2 and R2 buttons to block strikes and grapples respectively. All of that is programmed to happen with just the precise click of a button.

Another feature (well 3 of them which are actually pretty cool) are Paint Tool, Superstar Threads and Story Designer. In Paint Tool, you make your own custom logos. Superstar Threads is something that was missing for a long time, as you can fully customise the color scheme for all of the wrestlers in the game look when they come to the ring for a match and the real meat of 2010 is Story Designer. Create, edit, customise or play your own stories.

Creation is just as good as before. Now you can create or download via Playstation Network up to 50 CAWs. Also, no more annoying GRINDING through Career Mode anymore as you will gain experience points as many times as you play them through their matches or even better or quicker, simulate them to make things move quicker.

Unfortunately, as many SmackDown games after 2006, they are some annoying flaws that Yukes have yet to fix: hit detection being one of them or fixing the lag of online play. As for creations, it's great to download and upload them but it's no good when you can edit them to your likings.

SmackDown vs Raw 2010 could've been much better while at the same time it was not as bad as people think. Thankfully things were fixed (well not really) in SmackDown 2011.
