As a long time fan of old WWF & WWE games from PS1 and early PS2 days. WWE '13 is IMO the best wrestling game ever.

There's so much to be said about this game that I likely wont' be able to finish in this first draft review. But I'll highlight some points that won me over with this game. But first I'll put a disclaimer and report that this is my first WWE game purchase since 2003's WWE Here Comes the Pain game.

The Attitude Era mode, is what I'll highlight first. This is something I've been waiting for awhile to see someone refresh the best era of WWE and THQ does an decent job of recapping the high time with this mode. This mode takes you back to the early beginnings, almost like a story mode, where you play through a chapter of each superstar's rise to fame. In the process of doing this you have objectives to complete in the wrestling matches, successfully doing the objectives rewards you greatly. I started out playing Attitude Era mode, I recommend anyone first picking up this game to play that first. This is how I learned the controls of the game along with the little instruction pamphlet for button config. In the past what use to persuade me away from WWE games was that it's controls got more complicated and complicated with each new WWE game, from the Acclaim wrestling games on PS1, to THQ Smackdown games, to the PS2 Smackdown games. It got to the point that I would just play to see the matchups. But repeats of lost matches, or failed objectives in WWE '13 Attitude mode got me to improve my playing performance significantly. THE ROSTER: This is by far the hugest pro-wrestling game roster, so many hidden superstars that will need to be unlocked through the game. The Attitude Era mode helps expand out your roster which by default is to mostly all current Superstars. When connected to Xbox LIVE, there's even more Superstars to get from the built in WWE Shopzone, as well as the option to share or download other XBL gamers CAWs from the Community area. INTROS:
WWE '13 does wrestlers intros to their full potential, and I do mean full potential, just like it's done on the LIVE shows. What's even better is with the Xbox 360 THQ put easy options to edit wrestlers intro so you can change their entrance, videos, and the option to use your own music from your Xbox music playlist. Creative wrestling fan gamers ought to love this because this gives you the option to match your personal favorite theme songs to your WWE Superstars. There's a few theme songs defaulted in the game that don't match what the wrestler originally used that you'll notice when playing in Attitude Era mode, but those songs can be customized and changed too.

The Create a Wrestler (CAW) option is the best I've ever seen. So many options on building your wrestler, and these CAWs look as good as the in-game Superstars, I've been able recreate a few of my favorite past time wrestlers who I personally liked but didn't get the push they needed, match them with their theme music and run them through this game. Right now I'm playing Universe mode, which really puts you through a nice simulated WWE schedule, where you can pick your favorite Superstar or CAW and play through.
