WTF is indeed how I would describe the game. In a good way though.

We've all seen quirky Japanese mini-games, most notably the Warioware series, and Work Time Fun is an unique addition to the genre.

The thing that sets WTF apart from the others is the the theme of work environment. The basic idea is that through playing mini-games (as part-time jobs), money can be earned inside the game, and are used to buy things from vending machines. Depending on how good you with particular games, you can earn anywhere from nothing to unlimited amount of money (provided you are willing to spend an infinite amount of time) per play. There are 4 different types of vending machines, costing $1, $5, $10 and $50 per try. What you get is random, anything from more mini-games, tools that you can use in real life by using the PSP, to collectible items (that are only decorations).

Generally, the more expensive a vending machine is, the better chance of a good item, but it's really random. It's possible to get duplicates of the same item, so a lot of money can be wasted by getting the same thing over and over again.

The games themselves are...well, eccentric. Generally though, they do not have a very high pay, and are not worth the effort of playing. Why do they do that you ask? Perhaps they want to recreate the frustrations of working in a real part-time job. Whatever the case, frustrating as it may be, it's always fun to torture yourself to earn bits of money at a time, only to spend it all at vending machines.

My favorite game is the one where you are a worker inside a pen factory, and all you do is put caps on the right end of pens, and there's no time limit. It sounds easy, and it is, but it's so repetitive and boring that after about 10 minutes, you'd wish to never see a pen again. Once in a while, a fellow female worker would say random comments, most of them gossip. They would say things like "I hate this job" in a really tired voice.

Another interesting aspect is the email system. You get mail for unlocking things, achieving certain scores, and a lot of the time, useless information from characters of the game who apparently know you. Once in a while though, by opening certain emails, you lose some of your hard-earned money, and that can be quite aggravating.

Overall, not the most fun game, but certainly very humorous. If nothing else, buy the game to unlock the ramen timer. Haha it's worth it.
