Ambitious, but rubbish.

User Rating: 4 | Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions PS2
This game's interesting idea of cops and robbers had potential to become successful, but due to poorly executed mission designs and obvious flaws throughout the game, this became a huge flop.

Gameplay
- Cars handle like elephants on rollerskates, they are also prone to randomly flip while cornering.
- Mission design is very unoriginal; objectives are as varied as the colours on a black and white television.
- Cheats were added to the game in an attempt to make it somewhat interesting, but they failed.

Graphics
- Graphics on the PS2 look even worse that typical PS1 graphics.
- Objects are often grainy up close.
- Too much popup in the environment.
- Random glitches are a norm in this game.

Sound
- All cars have a very similar and unrealistic exhaust note.
- Characters in the game make an awful attempt in being humorous.
- Pedestrians say the same lines over and over
- In game music is repetitive.

Value
I originally bought the game back in 2003 for $29.99. I bought the game after watching the Wreckless trailer, which apparently did not contain any PS2 footage but instead, footage from the XBOX where the graphics were better than the PS2 version's in every way possible. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! These days, if you have $5 burning a hole in your pocket and you're urging to buy Wreckless, avoid the PS2 version at all costs and buy the XBOX one instead.

Tilt

Although the missions were not varied in structure, they varied immensely in difficulty. Some are as simple as destroying an enemy car, while others may instruct you to destroy numerous opponents while staying within a tight time limit. And if you think that going through the campaign once is hard, I have bad news for you; there is a second campaign with virtually identical missions. If you are not able to finish all of the missions though, you can enter a cheat code that gives you a GOLD rating for all of the missions.

In conclusion, I highly recommend that you stay away from this game, as there are no plausible reasons of why you should even think of warranting a purchase. For its bargain bin price, there are lots of other titles that are similar, but much better, such as the GTA, Midtown Madness, and Twisted Metal series.
