Bland World

User Rating: 5 | World Wars ARC

World Wars is a shooter arcade game by SNK and featured on the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection for up to 2 players. This is a direct sequel to Bermuda Triangle utilizing the exact same game engine. You fly a ship that can gather up to 3 mini ships to protect yourself or aid in your firepower. It features the unique rotary joystick (where you can twist the body of the joystick to aim in different directions while still tilting the joystick in the direction you want to move, allowing you to move and shoot in different directions) SNK used for many of its arcade games of the time. This game is generally a downgrade from Bermuda Triangle where your ship is much smaller (closer to other shooters at the time), the difficulty is lowered, you get less opportunities to use your mini ships, and you only scroll forward (Bermuda Triangle featured both forward and reverse scrolling in stages). Oh, the music also stands out as being really weird and not fitting in parts as well. Overall, this isn't a "bad" shooter, it is competent but really, really forgettable.
