Fast paced super fun action souls-like

Disclaimer: I started playing the game nearly a year after it released, with most bugs fixed and with all the DLCs and extras, which made for a stable, full featured experience. I have now completed every mission in the game, all DLCs and all achievements, and I'm on the highest New Game + on Xbox Series X.

Summary: The game is super fun, especially once you get past the first boss (raise your level and morale rank before trying it), and though not perfect (few games are), it was definitely worth the play-through. The levels are well-designed, and quite fair in their difficulty and layout. LOAD TIMES ARE TERRIBLE! The music was quite the high point, amazing. For a souls-like, it was fast paced action, very fair, and much more forgiving than others, making for a great and highly entertaining experience overall.

Some additional comments

Bosses: Apart from a couple of super annoying bosses, the Boss fights in this game are loads of fun and quite fair. Some are easy and short, others are longer and much more difficult, but overall, once you have the mechanics down, they are fast action super fun.

The missions: The levels are well-designed, mostly interconnected with some dead end paths that usually lead to either loot or to one of the smaller battle flags which raise your fortitude (important). The main missions are longer, story driven affairs (though the story is a bit souls-like in its lightness) and sub-missions are mostly shorter versions of the main levels though some are single or multi enemy battles. I personally preferred the level sub-missions to the single battle ones, though there were a couple of standouts. Overall, excellent.

Gear: The inventory management leaves a lot to be desired, but is serviceable. The extra storage area is useless, so I didn’t touch it. The gear is quite customizable and upgradable and once you finish the first pass at the game's story, you'll unlock higher levels (5,6,7,8 stars), secret spells and extra features.

New Game Plus: New game plus is not like other games where you start over in the traditional sense. Being able to jump and play any mission (once unlocked) from any NG+ was super refreshing and I loved trying different builds at different levels.

Builds: Being able to change your build freely and even save each configuration is a huge highlight. Want to try a specific boss with a specific build? No problem. This is something I wish I could do with all souls-likes and not have to go through the entire game simply to try using a specific type of magic instead of another. It was loads of fun to try different gear configurations and stats with different enemy sets.
