Since this is a remake of a very old game (the original came out early in the PS1's life), the story should be familiar to quite a few RPG fans. There are some new surprises story-wise, to keep it interesting to veterans of the series. The battle system and additional characters are the main changes here. The batttle system has much more in common with Wild ARMs 2 than the original. Cecilia is now the only one with the ability to summon guardians and traditional equipmet is now replaced "skills" that have effects ranging from defense against certain spells or status effects to increasing the likelihood of critical hits. This version of Wild ARMs also allows you to have Calamity Jane, Magdalen, Emma, and Zed in your party. While this feature has some added value, it didn't really affect the gameplay much. It just felt odd because in the original, you had only Rudy, Jack, and Cecilia in your party. The graphcs could have been better but considering the time it was made (it came out in the US quite a bit later after the Japanese release), I'm not surprised. The music is basically remixes of the original soundtrack, but the world map started to get on my nerves after a few hours. To sum up, a few minor annoyances shouldn't be enough to deter an RPG and/or Wild ARMs fan from this genuinely enjoyable game.
