Wild Arms 4 changes a lot of what the series is known for, but a lot of it is for the better.

Gameplay is what has changed the most. The use of the Hex Grid System is odd at first, but is actually very good and is the best thing about the game. Instead of taking turns like in a traditional turn-based RPG, characters take turns much like Final Fantasy X.

Graphics are good and it has a distinct style. The theme with previous Wild Arms has revolved around the wild west, and WA4 takes that theme but puts it in the future.

Sound is also pretty good. Wild Arm music has always been great, and the voice acting is a welcomed new addition to the series.

Value is in the game. It takes about 40 hours to complete the main quest, but there are a lot of extra bosses to challenge afterwards. These secret bosses are incredibly powerful and take a lot of extra leveling up to defeat.

Overall, if you're in a RPG slumped like I was back in January, Wild Arms 4 fills that need. It's a good RPG that has a decent story, but the battle system is where the game shines.
