User Rating: 5.2 | WCW Super Brawl Wrestling SNES
WCW Super Brawl Wrestling is a very average wrestling game with a few strong points. The game takes it's characters from the WCW of 1994. Overall the game is not very special. And other than having the WCW title and license to use the actual players, this game is not that exciting for a number of reasons. Gameplay: 5/10 The game is played on three different difficulty levels and can be played in several different modes that include single match, tag team, and world title mode. Once you have those settings set, you can chose between twelve different wrestlers - all from the WCW of course. During actual matches is where the game is not as fun... which of course brings this game down. When playing against the computer opponent, it is near impossible to win because the computer does the moves before you can. You can get close to getting them down to enough health to pin for the 3 count. But that is hard. Moves are done with certain combinations of buttons. So if you are playing against another person, it is easier and much more fun. Also during the match two stats are tracked that is your strength and health. The lower your health the more easily pinned you are. The more strength you have the more damage you do. Each stat regenerates very quickly. Graphics: 5/10 The graphics are very... average. The game menus are decent. And the character selection is pretty good. But where I think this game makes an error is that they try to make it look realistic with realistic skin tones. But the problem encountered is that the graphics can only hold so much detail that the pictures look weak at best. Then during actual matches, the movement is silly looking. One good thing is that there are animated scenes for when you do finishing moves. But aside from that, the ring (which is in isometric view) looks out of proportion. Sound: 7/10 The sound is actually the best part of the game. In the beginning there is a simulated voice that is about as good as any SNES game out there. Most SNES games avoid speech because it usually comes out sounding bad. However, this game does well in that regard. The ring noises are decent, but not stellar. The crowd noises are a little irritating. Reviewer's Tilt: 5/10 WCW Super Brawl could have been more. The graphics could have been better if it were done in a more cartoon style. And the gameplay could use some work. Unless you are a particularly avid fan of the characters from this WCW era, I would avoid this game.
