Remember the Nintendo 64? Re-live those days on the Gamecube, albeit with less-than-inspired graphics and sound.

User Rating: 7.1 | Wave Race: Blue Storm GC
Wave Race: Blue Storm is a Nintendo Gamecube exclusive that features rather challenging yet exciting jet-ski racing. While it is certainly reminiscent of its N64 predecessor, in terms of game-play and scope, it also could have been a lot better.

This game can't be beat in just a few sessions; it is difficult to master and the championship is rather long. If you're not big on racing, Wave Race: Blue Storm will soak you at first. You'll develop a serious case of nintendo-thumbs if you challenge this game! Not for the impatient.

While many Gamecube titles have great visuals and good audio, the sound and graphics in Wave Race: Blue Storm could have used more attention. This game makes no waves in either of these departments. Blocky models and not-so-great water effects had this reviewer wondering whether this was really a new Gamecube title at times. The sound effects, while not bad, have that sealed-in-a-can quality to them. Over all, the music does little more than add background to the many many races. You may grow tired of the soundtrack quite early and long for something more your own taste. The championship mode offers a good amount of playtime and (arguably) some good replayability. While not a necessity for your Nintendo library, you may want to pick it up if you really enjoy racing or you're pining for a (slim) improvement over Wave Race 64. The vehicles and backdrops are quite colourful and the physics feel realistic. Wave Race: Blue Storm doesn't make a huge splash, but it is not a bad game either; check your discount aisles and whet your racing appetite!
