Great Graphics, Great Physics, and Pure Fun

I am writing this review after almost ten years from buying this game. I recently took out my n64 to give wave race a spin and it still is a joy to play.

What this game does like a lot of great games is that it just feels right. The more you get use to the feel of the waves and how the jet-ski bounces off them the better this game get. At first first the waves and setting up for the turns might take sometime but once you get into the rhythm of things the game becomes poetic. Before you think that I am crazy let me explain where I am coming from. I am a skier and I used to race in my Junior and Nancy Green days. A lot of athletes and skiers will talk about something I like to call the zone. The zone is a place you need to be in order to ski without thinking of skiing. Its a place when you look down the mountain, say I need to go over there and without you even being aware of it you legs move in the right direction. You are in thinking in the future and you brain fills in the rest. What does this have to do with Wave Race 64, well this is the only game I have ever been able to get in the zone with. This makes this game almost like mediating.

Technically the game used the analog stick perfectly. The graphics and wave effects enhanced if not made the game perfect. Some might have found the game too easy but for me I like games that don't take 100's of hours to master.
