Game Review-Gameboy Color-Warioland II

Review 21

Game Genre: Action

Graphics
Eh…it’s a Gameboy Color game, not too much to be expected, but it’s much better than it’s fellow launch titles.

Gameplay
It’s like a twisted, screwed up Mario game. In a tinted blue color. There are many chapters and stories that Wario plays through. Also available are secret levels and hidden treasure rooms that make Warioland II the most in-depth Gameboy Color game in its day. There are many different “Wario Modes”, like being drunk, squished, or stuck in a bubble that allows you to pass through various parts of a level. There are also many different enemies that all do special things, in special levels. The levels are very complex, with hidden walls, hidden doors, hidden coins. At the end of each level is a chance to find a piece of a map that you can complete at the end of the game.

Overall, the gameplay is advanced for it’s time.

Controls
Of course, not much, the Gameboy Color has like 3 buttons.

D-Pad: Move (up makes your jump longer, down can make your stomp or roll)
A: Jump
B: Attack
Start: Pause

Story
Not very complex, you control Wario, who is trying to defeat the badguys.

Durability
It lasts forever. There are so many stories to play, and along with that, so many hidden places in the stories. You have not 100%’ed the game until you’ve found all of the secrets

Difficulty: Hard
It’s difficult to find all of the secrets in Warioland II. Incredibly difficult. But you have infinite lives and etc. that evens out the difficulty.
