I'm a big fan of the Dawn of War series and will continue to be. I may have had too high of expectations for this game.
The story is actually very good and the only thing that kept me going. The graphics are visually pleasing; not top of line, but they're OK. What was really disappointing was the combat. Endless waves of Orcs that you hack and slash to work your way to the next level. You're given a rifle or laser as well so there's shooting too. But, the combat just seemed so limited to me especially knowing what the Space Marine race has to offer in the RTS side of the franchise.
I like RPGs and I like RTSs. Maybe the action genre just isn't my bag. Perhaps if there was more variety in the weapons or some variations in the enemies and their tactics I would have enjoyed it more. I found myself getting tired of hacking and slashing constant waves of Orcs just to keep the story going.
If you are an action game fan, you may like this. If not, I don't think this is the game to get you endeared to genre. The story makes it worth playing.
