fun blood bath although a bit shallow

First of all, I really enjoyed the Dawn Of War series so I was looking foward to this one. I had my doubts looking at previews but I got to admit that this game is surprisingly good.

The concept is simple: Shoot and hack through countless orks and other ennemies like theres no tomorow. And thats pretty much the only thing this game does but it's really good at it.

You really feel like a space marine. One thing the devs did right is making you feel the weight of the ultramrines. Every hit feels like an earthquake. You feel like you're 9 feet tall. Although a bit repetitive, the combat never stops being fun. The finishing moves are sweeeeeet but after a while you wish there was more. However the devs did a good job of mixing things up by giving you the jump pack and some heavy weapons at the right moment.

Theres not much to say about the story except something like ''the orks are here, let's kill them all'' Why are they here, who cares, let's spill someguts.

The graphics are ok. It's obvious that it's been developped for the consoles. Theres not much options and also theres no way to change the keyboard mapping. You can't change screen resolution either.

The only reason I didn't put a 9.0 is because this game could have been a little more complete (or complex). Being a fan of the Dawn of War series I was expecting some kind of RPG elements. It would have been nice to be able to unlock some skills, finishing moves and upgrade to specialize in melee or range combat. You do get some items and abilities over the course of the game but i feel like they're all given to me and it's much better to ''earn'' them.

Overall it makes for a fun but short experience. But let's hope they make the sequel a bit deeper.
