Hey, you got my game in your realism! No, you got my realism in your game! Two great tastes that go great together!

User Rating: 9 | Wargame: AirLand Battle PC
Wargame: Airland Battle splits the difference between game and simulation.

On the one hand, you have magic supply trucks that resupply, refit, and refuel your troops in seconds. They even replace dead members of your infantry squads! Parking a command jeep in a sector immediately captures it, regardless of how many enemy troops are in the sector.

On the other hand, this is the most beautiful simulation of military vehicles and men ever made. Real world tactics must be used. Sending your tanks in ahead without recon and anti air support will be a certain death sentence.

It's this combo platter of breathtaking graphics, realistic simulation of 1970-1985 military hardware, and magic supply trucks that make Wargame: Airland battle so fun to play. It's a perfect mix of what's needed to make a game, plus what's needed to make a simulation.

Warning: game is hard. If you're new to the genre, put it on easy, and get ready to wonder why your tanks got wiped out so quick. Read the manual. In-game tutorials (including the first easy campaign) do a very poor job of preparing you for the carnage to follow.

If this game had pause and give orders, it would have gotten a 10 from me. Playing the game correctly means remaining zoomed out most of the time, and since it is strictly real time, there's not much time to enjoy the pretty explosions.

Best dev support ever. These guys never stop working. if something is broken, you can expect it to get fixed quickly. Bravo Eugen Systems.
