Wanted, is simply a game full of potential wasted on a weekend flashy shooting action game

User Rating: 6.5 | Wanted: Weapons of Fate PC
For better or for worse, Wanted is just a simple cool cover based shooter that could have been a great game, but it ends beeing a flashy weekend shooter with only a short story mode that's over before you know it.
As a fan of the action genre who played great games similar to this like Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, and GTA4, i played and found that this game had a lot of potential, but end up falling short due to its very short lenght and lack of variety that could been easily fixed with more extras like extra game modes such a survival arena, or game modes with time trials to play against the clock, etc, in the form of DLC.

So, here's my review based on the following aspect:

Presentation: Simple, Cool ,Stylish, Cinematic, and very similar or reminiscent to the movie, as this game is based as the continuation of the movie; the story just cover one or two few plots that weren't solved or talked about in the movie, which unfortunately won't give you a lot of impact, or thrills, so is pretty much a forgettable story. Also, this game was well crafted and ported to the PC, so everything is mapped to the keyboard and mouse, with keyboard and mouse prompts at all.

Gameplay: This game comes in the form of a cover based third person shooter, a gameplay system borrowed from the Gears of War formula, where the only thing you will do most is go to a place, take cover, shoot some bad guys, then repeat in the same order as you reach the end of the level. Sounds boring, right?, well it could have been boring, but the gameplay comes packed with some pretty unique features which no other game has, which is the bullet-curving ability and a cover-to-cover chain system which are the highlights of this game that gives a lot of credit and potential to the gameplay and the game overall, because is very fun and simple to use using the keyboard and mouse combo. For me, is still so exciting and rewarding doing a curved headshot; and the cover-to-cover chaining system worked flawlessly for me. Enemy AI is ok, they know how to shoot and take cover, so is pretty much something and it didn't dissapoint me at all.

Single-Player Experience: Well, after finishing the story mode, which i won't insist saying that is very short, i replayed some levels that were a good amount of fun for me, using other characters that comes as unlockables. Overall, the story mode, i mean the whole game at all, was a fun and sometimes annoying shooting ride with well designed and scripted levels, oh, and also, boss batles are rarely boring and were just a waste of bullets and time.

Graphics/Visuals: This game is full of stunning visual effects that tries to mimic a blockbuster movie which doesn't look bad, in fact i found it rather beatiful at some spots, but then there's sometimes an excess of blurrines which was unnecessary . Textures looks ok, and characters models are crisp and well rendered, whith cool crafted animations, so overall, if you have a nice and up to date PC, the visuals doesn't dissapoint at all and will look really good.

Audio/sounds: I don't mind what voices are used on the dialogues and how they sound, which by the way, they sound pretty simple and almost lame for me, everything on the sound department is just ok, from the firing effects, to the hitting sounds and shellshock effects. Also, the music is good as it was extracted by the same licensed movie, i dk (don't know) you, but there's one theme that reminds me of a matrix one.

Quality/Performance: Great, all the long i played on this game didn't give me any bugs or weird glitches, as i said before, this is well ported and crafted pc game.

Overall: Well, the cards are on the table, if you know of some friend that has this game, ask for it, because this game is just perfect only for a rental, if you ask me it doesn't deserve to cost more than 20$ or 15$. So, i pretty much said that Wanted: Weapons of Fate is a well designed, crafted, and engineered game, that shows so much potential, only to be downed by a very short story mode and no DLC or great extras at all.
