Stylish, Odd, and Fun.

There are a few games from time to time which nobody should miss out on. Some are so because they are familiar and well done. Some because they are cult classics. And others because they truly innovate and bring new concepts to the table. Voodoo Vince is part of the last group. Voodoo Vince is a truly innovative game, revolving around the story of a Voodoo doll named Vince in his epic adventure to save his creator. The game takes place in odd, distraught cities from New Orleans, to the swamps, to Crypt City. In every aspect, this game is truly awesome.

Its graphics are great. On a basic view, they're amazing because of their polish and clever attention to detail. Dirt and Cracks litter nearly everything in the game, and these details make you feel like your in a real, organic world. The entire concept for this game is stunningly beautiful and stylish. It has a cool, jazzy, feel to it that pertains throughout the game, so much so that it can broaden your view on many aspects of what it expresses. The character himself, Vince, is a well done, convincingly done character that is fun to play as. Over all, this game exhibits complete graphical perfection, with amazing details, awe-inspiring style, and polished graphics.

The sound is just as amazing as the graphics. Vince's voice, which is one of the few moments in video games in which I laugh, sounds like that of an average guy, and the satire humor fills nearly every comment he has to make. Many people talk about funny games, but this is truly a funny game. The background sound is an amazing mix of jazz, funk, New Orleans style and a little extra all thrown in. It is done by the great Steve Kirk, and Kirk throws plenty of his oddness into every single track. The music truly emerges you into the game. And on top of all this, the sound-effects are top notch, creating a real world feel to this odd, stylish game.

Although the gameplay may seem like your average platformer, it is much much more. Sure, Vince has punch, spin, jump, and double jump. But its the worlds in which he can use those that makes this game special. Every level has immense depth, allowing you to explore massive cities. Levels, which despite being called levels, you can return to and explore whenever, have you do everything from light yourself on fire and blow up some living gas pumps, to escaping from a house run by an odd little doll, to escaping the sewers in a hot air balloon. And then, dont let me forget the most important aspect, Voodoo Powers. When your down and out, and need to get some health, just use voodoo powers. Basically what they do is, you inflict pain on yourself, and your enemies all die via whatever you did to yourself. These voodoo powers are typically funny to watch, such as Running with Scissors, to random bear trap.

Overall, Voodoo Vince is an odd, stylish game nobody should miss out on. These days the game is less than 10$, so give it a shot, and you wont regret it. It has its share of glitches, and can be tedious at times, but the experience far outweighs the sometimes tedious game. Definitely give this one a shot.
