Same Ol' Tennis ... The Good and the Bad

User Rating: 7.7 | Virtua Tennis: World Tour PSP
If you aren't aware, this game is pretty much identical to Sega Sports Tennis for the PS2. I played SST to the bone on the PS2 and when I was looking for a quick game fix for my PSP, this was an easier choice to make.

The Good:

- It's a quick and easy game to pick up and just start playing.

- If you're short on time you can just play a quick training game.

- The single player mode is decent, but if you have a friend you can play, that will make the game much more worth it.

The Bad:

- The gameplay in single player mode will tire you out after a while.

- The final match is a doubles match where you are forced to rely on the skills of an AI player. There is a glitch in the game where, on certain occassions, the AI player will stand and watch balls bounce slowly past them. That's a big reason many talk about the last match being so difficult (refer to forums).

- Playing the PS2 version for a while and the PSP version for a while, I have yet to ace a serve. No matter how high my serve rating, they will at least bounce it back your way somehow.

- The training games get old quick and some of them aren't much fun (disc shooter).

- The final match-up characters don't really make much sense ... wasn't very exciting for a final match in the world tour.

- The sounds of the footsteps get really annoying since there seems to be only one variety of shoe squeak.

Overall: A good tennis game. Don't expect a super-exciting single player game; there isn't anything that builds up rivalries or certain match-ups. The multi-player should keep most on their toes, so if you're fortunate enough to have a friend in the same vicinity with the same game ... awesome.

The highlight for me was having a game I could pick up and play for five minutes if I have a short break ... and then just stop and continue later. In other games, the save intervals don't always come so often.
