Here's the deal: Virtua Tennis has always prided itself on being an arcade-style tennis game with lots of whimsical training courses and easy-to-use controls. This game is no different in that regard. Many people criticize the game because they're expecting a more realistic tennis simulator. Well, that wasn't exactly SEGA's angle, was it now? They've accomplished their goal in making a straight-up sensationally fun tennis game that does in fact include a MUCH better variety of tennis stars than games like Top Spin 3. The controls and gameplay are so simple and smooth, VT 2009 puts competitors like Smash Court Tennis 3 and Top Spin 3 to shame. After all, doesn't it make more sense to hit the ball by pressing a button rather than RELEASING a button? Think about that 2k. This game's a blast to play with friends, it's seriously competitive online, and there's enough upgrades and modes to keep you coming back to it over the next few years, until the next iteration of the game is released. Yes, it's true; this game is VERY similar to Virtua Tennis 3, but it still adds more to the scene, with new mini-games, different professional players, lots of upgrades, and fun and improved career mode. If you enjoy classic arcade tennis and want a good game to get for the X360 that you can play with a few friends locally or online, definitely give Virtua Tennis 2009 a good look!
