Virtua Fighter II was well known for its breakthrough 3D graphics, and it was hailed as one of the best fighters ever. Now it later got ported to every sega home console, including the Genesis. How can Virtua Fighter 2 be both 3D and fun on the Genesis? Instead of following Vectorman and Sonic with Pre rendered 3D graphics, Virtua Fighter 2 on the Genesis uses 2D graphics, and while they look decent, they dissapoint. Virtua Fighter II is supposed to have 3D graphics.

You can play as Akira Yuki, Pai Chan, Lau Chan, Wolf Hawkfield, Jeffry McWild, Kage-Maru, Sarah Bryant, Jacky Bryant, and Dural. Shun Di and Lion Rafale, the two new characters in the series at the time weren't in this game, niether were four modes of game-play, which really sucks. The main mode is boring. Button mashing game-play just flat out alone gives this game a bad score. Sometimes, the fighter is brain dead and allows you to knock them out of the ring. Other times they'll kick your butt and wipe out your stamina meter when they have one ounce of life left, and you can even defend. Boring!

The box art may be 3D, but believe me, the game isn't. They could've used digitized and/or pre rendered 3D models, but no, they use bland to decent 2D graphics. Backgrounds look colorful, but the characters look extremely cheesy. The music is easily forgettable, basically mediocre Genesis tempo music. The voice samples are scratchy and annoying, espicially the announcer. It sounds like the Nes.

Overall, Virtua Fighter 2 is not a game you want to play. It's extremely boring and stupid. 2D graphics are the main factor. When you delete two new characters and four playable modes, that makes a Virtua Fighter fan pissed. Did I mention this is also on the Sega Genesis Collection? This is so boring, it's not even passable for a rent.
