Looks really interesting but so glitchy its unplayable. A big slice of "ashame"

First off I'll say I am running Win 7 x64 and this game has issues. Maybe it runs fine under XP but I am not going to go to the lengths of trying that... XP is in the past for me.

The game itself looks really interesting, it has a very unique visual style and the audio is dark. I think it's safe to say the guys that made this were into black metal back when black metal was still underground and unknown.

The story upon first impressions seems like it'll be rather dark in brutal.

Problem is the videos don't work unless you force the game into windowed mode (not sure if this is a codec setting or an OS issue). And then trying to play the game... it reminds me of the old Alone in the Dark games.... fixed camera views that swivel as you move around, then change cams as you move from room to room, or area to area. If you were around when Alone in the Dark came out you'll know what I'm talking about.

Problem is there is no help as to how to play this game. No interface, no icons. You just see a smokey blood splotch whenever you left click.... and generally that moves you around.

When I first tried it I somehow made my way into a new room, then a few months later thinking I'd give it another try, I can't figure out how I did that.

It really makes you feel like you are playing a poorly implemented flash game. I keep expecting to see that drop down menu appear with flash settings whenever I try my right click.

It's sad really.

A very intriguing looking game that might be very eclectic to play, but is too broken to bother trying. I can't understand why the developer hasn't taken the time to make a little patch to fix this problem... maybe if real world obligations pulled them away from game development... but they did move forward to develop another game (not sure if that was ever finished).

I bought the indie pack this came in on Steam specifically because I was interested in Vigil, and Vigil doesn't seem to be available on its own.... only to find it is unplayable.

If it worked properly I'd think it could have developed a solid fanbase amongst avid indie supporting gamers. Too bad.
